Sit Thailand gym is run by Kru Thailand Pinsinchai, a very well accomplished fighter during the golden era of muay thai and former Lumpinee, Rajadamnern and Thailand Champion. The gym is located very close to Chiang Mai Airport; I remember doing some morning jogs taking me alongside the roads that served as the entrance/exit to the airport. Its about a 10 minute motorbike ride from the southern end of Old City, where I was staying. The morning session runs from 7:30 am to around 9, with an optional run beforehand. The afternoons run from 4 – 6 pm. I opted to do the morning sessions as I was only doing one session a day. Typically the morning classes were pretty small, usually 2-4 other foreign fighters and 2-3 younger thai fighters. During the couple weeks I trained there, I recall Kru Thailand traveling to Bangkok a few times to support his fighters. The morning sessions were pretty relaxed and not strictly regimented. I’d come a bit early to get some running in and then sometimes skipping. Then it would be 4-5 rounds of padwork with either Kru Thailand or his assistant coach. The padwork was great, they would pay close attention to your technique and give you pointers or drills to improve. Kru Thailand's english wasn’t the greatest, but you could definitely understand what he was trying to convey. After padwork was either clinching or sparring/drilling. Sparring with the younger Thais was always fun as they keep it light/playful. The class typically ended with some bag work. Overall the atmosphere was one of an authentic family oriented muay thai gym. I would say the only negative is the location is not the greatest as its kinda tucked away alongside a major road and I didn't see many restaurants/businesses within walking distance. There were some accommodations very close by but a motorbike might be necessary to get around. However, as I said earlier its only around a 10 minute drive from downtown Chiang Mai so commuting to the gym everyday is definitely possible if you prefer to stay in an area with more venues. Pros -Great technical instruction from Kru Thailand -Good atmosphere, skilled and nice training partners -Training alongside other thai fighters -Large facility Cons -Not much in surrounding area
